Part 1
- well...
- "I prefer reading, you know, it helps me to relax." |
- "I'm not a big fan of crowded places. I mean, I like hanging out with friends, but just in smaller groups." |
- "Do you like cooking?" - "Actually, I really enjoy it. It's my way to unwind after a long day." |
- "My job is basically about helping customers solve their problems." |
| Let me see / Let's see | 让我想想 | 完美替代"well...",表示你需要一点时间思考。 - "What's your favourite season?" - "Let me see... I'd probably say autumn." |
| That's a good question. | |
| How should I put it?
Do you like listening to music?"
I like pop music... it's good."
高分回答: "That's a good question. Yeah, I'm a huge music lover, you know? Basically, I listen to pop and rock music every day on my way to work. I mean, it's the best way to kickstart my day."
- To be honest / Honestly,...
o "To be honest, I'm not a morning person at all." - I'm really into...
o "I'm really into watching documentaries lately." - I'm a big fan of...
o "I'm a big fan of all kinds of street food." - ...is not really my thing. (...
o "Horror movies are not really my thing; they scare me too much." - I guess... / I suppose...
o "I guess my favourite place would be the local park."
不要总是用 and, but, because。
- Plus,... / Also,...
o "I enjoy hiking. Plus, it's a great form of exercise." - As well. (也)
o "I like coffee, and I drink tea as well." - I mean,...
o "The weather can be unpredictable. I mean, it can be sunny one minute and pouring the next." - You know what I mean? / Know what I mean?
o "City life can be so hectic, you know what I mean?"
- All the time (老是,总是)
o "I use my phone all the time, for maps, messaging, everything." - Once in a while / Every now and then (偶尔)
o "I every now and then meet up with my old school friends." - From time to time (时不时地)
o "I go to the cinema from time to time."
- Awesome / Brilliant / Fantastic (极好的)
- Terrible / Awful (糟透的)
- Pretty good / Not bad (还不错)
- Relaxing / Peaceful (放松的/宁静的)
- Hectic / Chaotic (繁忙的/混乱的)
- Handy / Convenient (方便的)
Topic: Music
Examiner: Do you often listen to music?
Answer: "Oh, definitely! I'd say I listen to music pretty much every day. You know, it's such a great way to unwind after a long day. Plus, I always have my headphones on when I'm commuting."
Examiner: What kind of music do you like the most?
Answer: "That's a tough one! I have quite a wide taste, but I guess I'm really into pop and indie rock the most. I mean, artists like Taylor Swift and Coldplay. Their songs are just so catchy and the lyrics are brilliant." (使用了拖延技巧、软化语I guess、地道表达really into、填充词I mean、高级形容词catchy和brilliant)
Examiner: Did you learn to play any musical instrument when you were a child?
Answer: "Well, actually I did. I took piano lessons for a few years. To be honest, I wasn't all that great at it and I found practicing a bit of a chore. But I'm still glad I gave it a shot because it gave me a basic understanding of music." (使用了转折词Well、actually、to be honest来引出真实情况,用地道表达all that great、a bit of a chore、gave it a shot来使描述更生动)
Definitely! / For sure! - "Do you like your hometown?" - "Absolutely! I wouldn't want to live anywhere else." |
| Oh, big time! - "Are you a football fan?" - "Oh, big time! I never miss a game." |
|
| 表示犹豫/思考 | It's on the tip of my tongue. - "What's your favourite app?" - "Well, it's on the tip of my tongue... Oh yeah, it's called Notion." |
| I'm tempted to say... - "What's your favourite season?" - "I'm tempted to say autumn because of the nice weather." |
|
Having said that,... - "I love the hustle and bustle of city life. Then again, it does get exhausting after a while." |
| 表示强调/夸张 | I tell you what,... - "Is traffic bad in your city?" - "I tell you what, the rush hour traffic is just unbearable." |
| It's out of this world! - "How's the food there?" - "Oh, it's out of this world! You have to try it." |
|
- "Are you a tidy person?" - "Kind of. I'm not obsessive about it, but I can't stand total chaos." |
| I suppose... - "Will you live there in the future?" - "I suppose so, but you never know what might happen." |
(Likes/Dislikes)

(Yes/No)
Is it ...? Are there ...? Do people ...?

Examiner: Is it important to have a personal hobby?

(Description)
What's ... like? Describe your ...
Overall, it's..., I'd describe it as...

It makes me feel..., I've always found it...

Answer: "Overall, I'd describe it as a bustling coastal city. The best thing about it, without a doubt, is the food scene – it's out of this world! Then again, it can be a bit hectic and crowded, especially during the holidays. But I've always found it to be a very lively and welcoming place."
(Past Experience)
Did you ... as a child? What did you ... when you were young?
- I used to...
- I remember vividly...
- Looking back, ...
- It brings back a lot of memories.
案例:
Examiner: Did you enjoy reading when you were a child?
Answer: "Oh, for sure! I was a massive bookworm. I used to devour Harry Potter books under the covers with a torch. Looking back, it kind of sparked my imagination. I don't get to read as much for pleasure now, which is a shame, but it brings back really fond memories."
(Because, The main reason is, I suppose it's because...)
(Plus, Also, On top of that...) 或 举例 (For instance...) 或 对比 (Having said that...)
So,..., Overall,..., That's why...
